8 Rings That Will Give You A Sweet Tooth

The best times  of the year are holidays or family get togethers. Why? There’s food. Yet,the best part of these times  are the desserts. If you’re in love with sweets like I am, why not pig out on this sweet jewelry. You know what they say, you are what you eat.

1. Ice Cream Rings:

Why don’t people ever ask for this instead of a boring engagement ring. I mean it’s an ice cream ring ,and why do you need it? because it looks so good. Looking at this ring made me want to go get  five tons of ice cream from the store. Everyone love’s ice cream, except for maybe people who are lactose intolerant. They should probably stay away from all dairy products.

2. Pie Rings

Blueberry Pie Ring  by SweetStella on Etsy $20

When my aunt comes from Florida, which is rarely. She makes this peach cobbler that everyone goes crazy for. They like jump over each other. It’s like it’s the last loaf of bread in the store when a snow storm is coming. Yes, it’s that good. Pie is that good. So why not get a pie ring. Pie is definitely better than diamonds any day.

3. Doughnuts

Bitten Doughnut Ring – Rainbow sprinkles – Kawaii Jewelry by Cutetreats on Etsy for $12

There’s a huge debate on who has the best doughnuts, but hands down people love doughnuts. Whether it’s Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts, doughnuts are the best thing in the world. This is especially true for original hot glazed doughnuts. They’re soft they’re fluffy. I mean like, eating four of these things  makes you  feel like you only ate one.

4. Honey Bun Rings:

Sadly there is not a honey bun ring I could find, but if they made one… Oh My Gosh.

I’m in love with honey buns. They’re sort of like doughnuts but completely different.  They’re sticky and they’re good with milk. Slap that in the microwave ,and take a journey. What type of journey might you ask?  A journey on lover’s train. This is not lover’s train for your beau , it’s lover’s train for a honey bun. Forget about your beau, unless they get you a honey bun ring.

5. Oreos

Oreo Cookie Ring by LePetitTrianonChloe on Etsy for $6.99

Did anyone ever try to imitate the kid off of the Oreo commercial who would lick the icing off of one side of the cookie? Better yet, did anyone ever get their hand stuck in a jar of milk only to get yelled at by your parents, when it you slung the glass of milk across the wall? You get the point. Oreos are amazing when they’re soggy; At Least, that’s what I believe.

6. Marshmallow Rings:

I’ve never mastered S’mores, but marshmallows are amazing. They go good with hot chocolate. They remind me of a camping trip that ends being chased by demented forest animals. I used to think marshmallows would make you float. That’s how everyone always portrayed them, like a pillow. A marshmallow ring would be the perfect ring, like sleep and a pillow.

7. Twinkies Resurrection:

Twinkies Earrings by CatrinasToybox on Etsy for $16

Did not find a Twinkie ring but I found Twinkie earrings.

R.I.P. Twinkies. If you have not recently heard, Twinkies were  gone from the market. However, they came back. I love Twinkies. Some say it’s an acquired taste, but the spongy outside with the cream center is to die for. Oh my gosh. I just recently tried a Twinkie for the first time and Twinkie fans, I totally understand. Twinkie Nation.

8. Cake:

Cake Ring by alphabetsuitcase on Etsy for $5.15

I love cake. I had a thing for chocolate cake after the kid on Matilda, but cake is really good. Pound cake, red velvet cake, and rum cake if you’re of age (just kidding).Cake is amazing and it looks even better on your finger. I mean what’s better than having a bird attack your finger because of your cake ring. What an experience.

What’s your purpose?

If you are unhappy with your job and  don’t know what to do? You should definitely read this book.

You should read this book because it is exciting and explains itself through real life examples.

My favorite quote of the book was:

“If I’m not afraid to do something, it’s not worth my time” -Ted Gonder

I have been reading this book entitled the quarter life break through. It’s so amazing. I think anyone of any age could use this book as a source for personal change. It’s not just a book you read , but has self-fulfilling exercises to help you figure out how to use your skills to better the world. Check it out!. Last week I finished my social media challenge and have gotten more done than ever before. I have realized things about myself that would have been impossible if on social media.

Perhaps the most contradicting thing I learned was:

Although people claim social media makes us less social, it can play a huge role in changing the world.

6 Skills Kindergartners Could Put on Their Resumes

Image

At the age of five , you may not think you have any skills, but  by golly, you do. What would you put on a resume for a kindergartner? Here are 6 things:

1. Abecedarian.  If you tell people that your kid is an abecedarian, they will more than likely be interested in what your kid does. Kindergarten is notorious for learning the alphabet. This is like one of the first things you learn in addition to mathematics. Why not  beef up your kids credentials by stating that your kid is the top abecedarian in the class.

2. Kindergartners are investigative.  (In other words, curious.) When I see this I picture a kid in their parent’s oversize trench coat, with a detective’s hat in blue’s brothers’ shades. Yes! five year olds are investigative. This means they’re learning new things every minute. They’re analyzing things every minute. They basically have their own knowledge of the world, This  makes since to them by the way.  If their mom is dressed as Santa Claus, she’s Santa Claus.  Investigative detective is definitely one thing a kindergartner might put on their resume.

3.  Comedians. If you’ve never talked to a kindergartner, the things they say are hilarious. This is the point where they develop a sense of humor or are developing emotions.  Here are a few examples:

  • If  a kid calls you a “nut-head” because they think it offends you, when it is probably the best insult you’ve gotten all day?  very rude, but you couldn’t help but laugh.
  • If a kid yells from the back yard to an innocent  old man who lives next door, that he “can’t be a cheerleader”, they’ve got their act made.
  • Kids are also super funny, when they’re hyped on sugar.

4. Professional Doodler. If there’s one thing I remember as a kid, I was a horrible drawer.  However, I doodled everyday. My family loved my cards. I mean they fell head over hills for a scribble that looked like an abstract rendering of a piece of lint that got clogged in the dryer. Yep, kindergartners are totally master doodlers. By the reaction I got, I’d say they were qualified.

5. Public Speaking . Oh My Gosh. When kids turn five , they talk forever about nothing. I mean they could see a bug and go into detail about that bug like it was the end of the earth. Like the bug was a part of their soul. It’d be a pretty  cool  reality show. Searching for bugs with Daryn: Kindy Edition. They are totally good at public speaking.

6. Fierce Cheetahs. Five year olds are fast. Like cheetahs, five year olds  have a lot of energy. Like cheetahs, five  year olds can  run , jump, and climb trees. They’re basically  like all over the place. Parents will break their necks to look when you describe your child as a fierce cheetah. Go Fierce Cheetah Go!

Doing Good Through Your Smartphone: Domestic Violence

How can you can directly help a victim of domestic abuse? Start with Your Smartphone.

Some people are not into protests, others just don’t have the time to go out and protest. Social media and Smartphone technology has made it easier to create social change. When I ride the bus after a long day of work, I see everyone using a smartphone. They’re on instagram , twitter, or facebook.  Some critics suggest that social media creates a socially deprived society. Yet, Debra Askanase demonstrates that it’s actually  an  effective tool for social change  in her article:7 Inspiring TED Talks to Rejuvenate Your Nonprofit’s Social Media Strategy.

The best TED Talk  featured in Askanase’s  article was Marnie Webb: Recreate the Way We Look at Social Issues. This is where I discovered the SafeNight App.

In her TED Talk Webb tells a story of how the Safenight app started with someones mother and evolved into an easy  mobile crowdfunding app. This app allows you to  donate money to domestic victims in  immediate need of a place to stay when there are no available shelters.

How Does it Work?

  • People pay  a requested  amount for a  hotel room. This amount is donated to a verified organization.
  • Requests for hotel rooms are managed by  trained staff at domestic violence organizations. They ensure that everyone involved in the process are safe.
  • Donors can select which shelter they want to support.
  • Donors can also select the alerts they receive with a period of time.
  • The app does not collect or store the information of the person receiving the  room.

Who should use this app?

  • Anyone can use this app
  • People who want to support the cause.
  • Organizations.

Why should you use this app?

  • You should use this app because it is an easy and effective way to directly affect the life of an individual going through domestic violence.
  • You could provide this person with a safe place to stay if there are no shelters available.

What should you do?

  • Check to see if any organizations in your area support the app.
  • Get your organization to raise money to pay for a hotel.
  • Get a group of your friends to raise money and pay for a hotel room.
  • Make it your birthday wish for people to download the app and help someone in need pay for a hotel room.

Schooled

I watched a movie that came out in 2013 called schooled. In this movie it talks about how college athletes should be paid for what they do because they bring billions of dollars to schools who associate with the NCAA. It goes through the definition of amateurism and through the stories of many football players including those who are still attending school. One of the players compares  the NCAA’s contract to that of an indentured service: Training, Room, and Board. It is a very interesting documentary. It changed my perspective on college athletes. It also changed my perspective on the power of money and advertising. You’d think athletes in the video games got paid? However, they did not at that point in time (2013). Check it out, if you’re into sports or just into cool documentaries.
